December 11: Pretty Packages

The wrapping season has begun and now that the Christmas tree is up, I take time each evening to wrap a package or two. 

 These are the first two presents under the tree; more will follow.  That’s happy!

One of the things I most enjoy about Christmas is wrapping packages.  Wrapping paper, ribbons, and gift tags bring me happiness.  Though I can wrap gifts throughout the year, Christmas is an excuse to really indulge.  That’s happy!

For me, one of the best parts of Christmas is wrapping packages.  I love the paper, the bows, and all the Christmas tags I find on Etsy.

Polka Dot Packages

I love wrapping paper and ribbons and especially like graphics and designs that feature bold colors and clean lines.  So it should come as no surprise that I like tidy patterns and especially love polka dots.

These packages have treats for T, who knows a thing or two about my love of polka dots.

Happy Planner

I especially enjoy organizing the details that go into getting ready for the holidays.  So I got up early this morning to bake a pumpkin pie and get things in order for our coming celebration.  The cookies are baked and the Christmas ham is awaiting my attention.  I've a few more Christmas packages to wrap, though many are already safely deposited under the tree.

Later tonight, we'll set out paper bag luminaries, a tradition in our town.  Then we'll take a walk in the cold to admire holiday lights and decorations.

JT has unfolded the Santa story for most of the month, asking for details of the secrets that went into the mystery.  He's been delighted to learn the truth.  But I'm betting that this evening we'll still watch the NORAD Santa-tracker and set out a generous snack (and whiskey!) for the man in red.  It's a happy day for a planner like me.  I intend to enjoy every bit of it.

I love wrapping packages at all times of the year, though Christmas is my favorite, largely because of the assortment of ribbons and papers I've collected over the years.  I've put the holiday wrappings away for the season, but I've still got the pictures I made of a few of this year's pretty packages.

Earlier this week, I had occasion to wrap up some packages filled with small treats.  I was rather pleased with the way they turned out.

I've had occasion to wrap some birthday gifts in the last few weeks.  These two turned out particularly well.

Inside this package are three new books for a bookish friend of JT's.  All three were new to the birthday boy (an avid reader).  So that was happy.

A package of bonus desk supplies for a fellow teacher, plus some cookies to start a long week.

I always enjoy wrapping packages.  The ribbons and paper, tags, and cards are just the sorts of things I love to collect and organize. And that's happy.
