Slippery

One of the best things about summer is sliding through the water of a pool or the ocean and the sense of how quick and agile your body feels in that moment. I have loved that feeling since I first learned how to swim. This summer I've been teaching JT to pick up diving sticks, so that he learns to propel himself under water.

And that's really the thing I love most about the slippery feeling: it's powerful. It's a reminder of everything you can do. And just how fast you can do it.

Indeed to propel through the waer like a slick dolphin is a great feeling.

I never thought about swimming that way, but you're absolutely right. It's less the weighlessness and more the slickness.

That was a short post but depicted the feeling of lightness and weightlessness in water. The slickness...

Water represents profound freedom for our bodies.

I love being in water... something I get to do seldom since I've gotten older.

Thanks for reminding me with your post.

I agree - I love the feeling of being underwater, surrounded by water, cradled by water. Our bodies are supposed to be 80% water, so maybe that is why we are so at home in it. Happy summer swimming!

Yay, I can smell the chlorine - or can I taste the salt - love the memories you roused for me!

Aaaaaah water! Lucky you for being able to swim already. Here in France the weather has been soooooooooo bad. No swimming yet.
